Ex-President George W. Bush on Saturday said Americans must set aside political differences in the fight against coronavirus — which he labeled “a remorseless invisible enemy.”

“Let us remember how small our differences are in the face of this shared threat,” Bush said in a video posted on Twitter by the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas.“In the final analysis we are not partisan combatants. We are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God,” Bush said.

Bush’s statement does not directly address how Preisdent Trump and Congress have dealt with the pandemic.Trump has rejected the idea of seeking help in the crisis from Bush and other former presidents, including Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

“No, not really. We’re doing a great job,” Trump was quoted as saying in April when asked if he planned to seek other presidents’ counsel.
